The main features of Buildbox are the image drop wheel, asset bar, option bar, collision editor, scene editor, monetization options and sliders that change the physics within the game.


Image Drop Wheel – Users drag and drop image files directly into the software by using the drop wheel.[8] Images are then automatically assigned various functions in the game that relate to characters, objects, backgrounds or special objects like power-ups.


Asset & Option Bars – Once assets are brought into Buildbox, their asset specific options are chosen on the left menu bar. This allows editing major options for assets or adding game specific actions and effects. The option bar changes sub-asset and cloned objects within a game.


Collision Editor – After importing images with the drop wheel, Buildbox allows be polygon and circle collision shapes to be created around the images. This allows users to fine tune their collision areas with the character and objects in the game.


Scene Editor – The scene editor allows levels to be created within Buildbox.


Monetization Options – Monetization of the created games is handled through in app purchases and supported ad networks including Revmob, Vungle, Chartboost, Playhaven, Applovin, LeadBolt, Mopub, & AdMob.
